Events and Programs : Reading Enrichment is offered the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 3:00 p.m. Children are introduced to the joys and benefits of reading through themed stories, crafts, and activities.

Collection and Services : Books: The Lajes Library book collection includes adult fiction and nonfiction as well as juvenile fiction and nonfiction books. Bestsellers are available through the McNaughton lease book collection. Reference books are available for in-library use. Special collections include the CSAF books, AFSO 21 books, Dear Reader books, and book club books. CLEP and DANTE study guides are available for checkout.

Periodicals: The library subscribes to 50 magazines and newspapers. Back issues of the periodicals may be checked out.

Audiovisual Materials: The library has a collection of DVDs and VHS tapes available for checkout. The collection includes entertainment, children’s, and documentary films. CLEP and DANTES DVDs and VHS tapes are available for checkout. Music CDs including rock, pop, country, rap, and jazz are available for loan. Fiction and nonfiction books on CD are also available.

Online Databases: Online databases are available with access to academic journals, magazines and newspapers for abstracts and full-text articles. Students will find information needed for research papers, professional military education, health and wellness and many other topics within the online research databases at the library.

Customer-use Computers: The library has 18 customer-use computers with Internet access and printing capability. There is a 5 cents per page charge for printing. The library computers are primarily for education and research use, but e-mail may be accessed. If customers are waiting, computer usage will be limited to 30 minutes. Students, including those enrolled in distance learning courses, will have priority for use of the library computers.

Children 7 to 9 years of age may use Internet computers while under the direct supervision of an adult. The library also has computers without Internet access for children 7 years and younger. Adult supervision is required on these computers.

Wireless internet access is available throughout the library

Copy Machine: Black and white copies are 5 cents per page.

Interlibrary Loans: The Lajes Library provides an interlibrary loan service to obtain books not available locally, but which are needed for education or research purposes.

Paperback Exchange: A free paperback exchange is available in the library.
